Studios on 7th is a collaborative artist studio, gallery, and classroom facility in downtown Birmingham, Alabama.  Studios on 7th strives to provide a sustainable, affordable space for artists to further their careers within a supportive environment.

The studios are located at 2423 7th Avenue South, within blocks of Highway 31 and walking distance to UAB and Lakeview. The renovated space is a 7,200 square foot building in a district that supports many art related enterprises and creative small businesses.

Studios on 7th welcomes you to become involved with numerous opportunities including anticipated monthly gallery openings, a range of workshops and classes, an exciting calendar of events, open membership, and a retail gallery featuring regional and national art!

When will the spaces be available?

Renovations of the historic buildings are underway and occupancy of the studios is expected as early as winter of 2012.

What are some of the perks of the studio spaces?

Artists have 24 hour a day, 7 day a week access to the building and have opportunities to show their artwork in the Studios on 7th gallery. The gallery is available to rent for individual or group shows and the classroom is available for private or group lessons. Artists also have access to a sound proof wood shop.

What will the studio spaces be like?

Features include a glass store front in the gallery, tall ceilings, burmished concrete floors and concrete sinks, lockable sliding barn doors on each studio, and exposed brick walls.

Are utilities included in the rent?

Electricity, water, heating & cooling, and wifi will be separately metered and are the responsibility of the tenant.

What about insurance?

Studios on 7th will carry insurance which covers general liability.  Tenants may carry personal insurance, however it is not required.

Will there be parking?

There is free parking available on site for tenants and visitors.

How do we dispose of hazardous materials?

Tenants will be expected to dispose of all hazardous materials in accordance with Alabama State law and all City Birmingham ordinances. Studios on 7th is planning to create an on- site program for recycling and will have instructions available for disposal of hazardous materials.

Will artists be able to make work, sell work, teach classes, and have space open to the public?

Yes.  The mission of Studios on 7th is to provide space for the arts to flourish which includes opportunities for art education and public involvement.
